The 2009 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Hong Kong Public Health Inspectors' Association (HKPHIA) is scheduled to be held on 10 July 2009 (Friday) at R.P. Dining Room, Level 3, Royal Plaza Hotel, 193 Prince Edward Road West, Mong Kok, Kowloon (九龍旺角太子道西193號帝京酒店三樓帝京廳). Immediately after the AGM, a dinner buffet is arranged at the R.P. Dining Room for the participants. The location map is clipped in the file below for your reference.

The HKPHIA now cordially invites you to attend the AGM and the dinner buffet (non-members are welcome for the dinner buffet). The dinner buffet charges at the rate of HK$200 per head for members and HK$350 per head for non-members. The HKPHIA will subsidize around HK$150 for each member, excluding the expenses for lucky draw gifts and coupons. The proposed schedule of the event together with the return slip for enrolment are attached in the file below.

To facilitate our preparation work, kindly please complete the Appendix I (附表一)) in the above file for your district/section and return it to our Executive Committee member Ms. NG Wing-mei, Elizabeth, by fax (2776 3317) on or before 3.7.2009.

Dear Members/HIOs,

It is with great honour that Hong Kong Public Health Inspectors'
Association (HKPHIA) has been invited by The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) to nominate one experienced HIO(holding a Master Degree or above) to apply university part-time tutor for teaching one of the modules of the captioned MSc course, viz. Food Safety and Toxicology. It is a 3-unit course which will cover topics on food safety, personal hygiene, food safety regulations, quality control, food hygiene management, etc at master level. Please see the following for more details:-

Qualifications of the applicant : At least 10 years' service as HIO and holding a Master degree or above

Remuneration : HK$750/hour ; total lecture hours: 18 hours plus 3 hours invigilation (without salary)

Tentative lecture period and time : Jan 2009 - Mar 2009, every Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Topics to be covered : Personal hygiene, environmental hygiene, microbes in food, food poisoning, food spoilage caused by microorganisms, food legislation, HACCP, risk analysis, hygiene manager and hygiene supervisor, national food control systems assuring food safety, food control system in HK and evaluation.(Remarks: HKPHIA will provide more detailed course materials for the successful applicant for reference when drawing up lecture notes)

香港衛生督察會執委會

最近國內一塲八級地震，造成四川及鄰近多個省市幾萬人死亡，無數家園盡毀。截至昨日(5月29日)，四川地震已造成超過68,500人遇難，366,500人受傷，近20,000人失蹤及過百萬人痛失家園。至於災區清理、災民安置及災後重建等工作更是刻不容緩。


我們從媒體看到一幕幕地震帶來的災難，一段段捨己救人的情節。雖然我們身在香港，但實在與國內同胞血脈相連，大家都感受到切膚之痛。香港衛生督察會執委會經詳細討論及考慮，決定撥出港幣10,000元捐予「民政事務局局長法團」轉交有關賑災機構，用作救援受地震災害影響的同胞，並已於今日(2008年5月30日)將捐款存入有關戶口。雖然本會捐款的數目不多，但我們本著對受災同胞的關愛及集腋成裘的精神，盡綿力支持四川抗震救災。同時，香港衛生督察會再次呼籲你們按自我能力及專長繼續支持日後的救災工作。

香港衛生督察會相信大家連日來已透過媒體了解四川地震災情及得悉災民需要，並已向災民伸出援手作出捐助。

我們非常感謝香港特別行政區政府及多間信譽良好的慈善機構不斷努力，並迅速舉行一連串賑災籌款慈善活動以支援災民。同時，特區政府已派出隊伍到當地參與搜救及防疫行動，而最近派往進行防疫工作的成員亦包括衛生督察職系人員在內。

香港衛生督察會現呼籲大家有錢出錢，有力出力，繼續向有關慈善機構捐獻，支援災區善後及重建工作，體現血濃於水的情懷。至於有志到當地貢獻一已的專長，參與防疫工作的衛生督察職系同事亦可直接與職系經理聯絡。順祝身體健康!
